Factors Associated with Decreased Emergency Department Utilization after Written Asthma Action Plans

Abstract: Data from the medical records of 373 adult patients with asthma who had a completed WAAP were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were evaluated for the effect of the receipt of a WAAP and ED utilization. We also identified the impact of the WAAP on ED use in the setting of various comorbid health conditions and prednisone inclusion in WAAPs. SPSS was used to analyze the data with Pearson chi square statistics, paired samples t tests, and odds ratio analyses.

Dry Powder Inhaler as the Most Common Treatment Option in Patients with COPD

Abstract: Treatment options for COPD are pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. COPD treatment aims to relieve symptoms, reduce the frequency of relapses and the severity of exacerbations. Treatment in patients with COPD is carried out for a long time or even for life. Literature review by doing database search using PubMed, Ebsco, and Scopus, used terms related to Patient Preference, Preference Treatment, Chronic Obstruction Pulmunary Disease, and Chronic Airway Obstruction Disease. From the 3 databases, 2,757 articles were obtained, and after going through several stages of article selection with End Note, 12 articles were obtained that were eligible for literature review.
